My Spa Review

My previous visit and review to Amarela - Divisoria made me think of Amarela - Carmen.  It has been a long time I have not revisited Amarela - Carmen and of course get a massage from Mr. J.  (See my 2015 review of Red Fern - Carmen branch which is now renamed Amarela - http://cdomassage.blogspot.com/2015/03/johnny-of-red-fern-carmen-branch.html)

It was another cool night as I went to Amarela - Carmen.  As I entered the reception area it was decorated again with this Balinese Buddhist decor.  It was nice and the smell of the spa was much improved!  There is still that slight smell of wood and bamboo but not like before.  It was just awful.

Since I was already in Amarela - Carmen I asked the receptionist for Mr. J.  "Sir, available si Mr. J".  So I waited for Mr. J. and there he came with a bowl of hot water for my feet.  Still the same Mr. J with the chinito looks, fair light skin and a bit healthier than the last time I saw him.  Gi alimahan gyud ug maayo hehehehe

After the customary footwash, I was lead to the cubicle.  Again some renovations were made and the place smells better.  Still a bit of the wooden or bamboo smell.  However I had again an issue with their curtain partitions.  It was a bit thin and the light from the outside was quite bright.  The bed is quite small.  Not sure if it was designed for adults or children.  The bed foam was a bit thin.

So I undress and this time all naked.  This is Mr. J so I knew what I am getting into.  Before the massage started I told him that I have this backache.  Could he do something about it.  "Sige Sir" he replied back to me.  "Dili ka man sad kaha high blood Sir?"  I replied back "Dili man".

The spa has ample parking space outside especially in the evening.  It is also accessible to jeepneys and taxis.  Not much a problem.  The spa interior needs some improvement and before I forget, it was a bit warm inside.  When you enter the spa, they just had a fan and on the 2nd floor I think only one air conditioner was on and a fan to oscillate the air.

I have heard some people say they do not like Mr. J's massage.  Maybe its just me or they want a different style of massage.  Who knows.  As I have said before each person has his own preference.

My Spa Review

The night was cool and it was that time of the year.  As I passed by Divisoria I decided to get a massage.  Essential Spa was on my mind but then I remembered Amarela.  I have not tried their new spa location.  So off I went to Amarela.

Thankfully they had a huge lighted signage outside.  Their location was squeezed in between two big establishments.  You might miss it if you do not look around closely.   

As I entered the spa, it had a Balinese Buddhist inspired interior decor.  It was nice.  The massage services and rates were basically the same, nothing much has changed with the spa except for the location and interiors.

I was not particular who my therapist was going to be so I decided to let the receptionist decide my faith.  The receptionist called on Mr. R. who was this slim and young looking guy but face value was not my type.  Not sure if he was moreno or not but I think he had a darker skin complexion.  Quite difficult to determine with the barely lit lights.

After the customary foot wash, I was lead into the cubicle.  The lights were a bit bright that I could see through the curtain partitions.  Not really a fan of thin partitions.

So I decided to undress to my underwear and lay on my chest.  Patiently waiting for Mr. R to come in and begin the massage.  A few minutes later Mr. R came in the started the massage.

It started well.  Nothing really to talk about.  Since I was in my underwear and I have not taken my haircut and all, I might have looked too "straight".  Probably one reason why he was a bit cautious in giving me a massage.

The reception hall was quite nice as shown in the photo but as soon as you enter the cubicle, it was a bit of a disappointment.  It needs improvement.  Murag na kulangan ug budget pag abot sa cubicles.  I still prefer the interiors of their Amara branch near Robinsons Mall.

I also observed that they have mostly stocky male therapist.  Murag si gi ilugan nila si Mr. R ug pagkaon hahahaha.

But as to the massage, it was fine.  Nothing much to complain but then again Mr. R thought I was straight so he gave me a better than expected massage.

Aside from the fingernail situation that made it uncomfortable I was also concerned of his finger.  Is it clean?  God knows where those fingers came from.  I just hope I was the first guy he did it with.  I would not want to be his last customer of the day.

And since today is the first day of December, I would like to greet everyone a Merry Christmas!  Expect another spa review within this month.

Salog Spa in Iloilo City

Spa Review

I  went to Iloilo City for a vacation.  I highly recommend the place.  It is clean and there are so much things to see and eat.  

So I decided to look for a spa (unsa pa man ako buhaton).  I was walking around near my hotel and found Salog Spa.  I went in and asked about their massage.  The regular massage was around 250 Pesos which was the cheapest in rate in the city.

As usual I asked for a male therapist.  When I got in the waiting area, a ladyboy (transgender) assisted me.  I did not mind at first.  While I was waiting inside the cubicle I was surprised she got in.  Ohhh okay, so she will be my therapist.

I did not want to be rude or anything so I allowed her to give me a massage.  Unfortunately the massage was not good.  She was like afraid to touch me.  I could feel more her palm than her entire hands.  I guess she was still new to the job.  It really shows.


Conclusion

I have nothing against ladyboys or transgenders but I asked for a male therapist.  Ladyboys no longer associate themselves as male.  Dili naman na sila lalake.  I told the receptionist, I asked for a male therapist not a ladyboy.  If I wanted female I could have asked for a biological female in the first place.  It pissed me off a bit.

It was the strangest spa experience I ever had.  I appreciate the spa for hiring ladyboys, giving them the opportunity to work.  However they should have given me a notice before hand.  Para dili sad ta makurat.  Kay gapadulong na kana sa ilad.  If you want ladyboys, this is the spa for you.

Lymphatic Massage, is it worth it?

First of all what is really lymphatic massage?  Lymphatic massage tries to stimulate the lymphatic system to remove congestion and stagnation from within the body (fluid accumulation), and so help it return to a healthy condition.  This is used to treat lymphedema.  (http://www.whatisholistic.com/definitions/manual_lymph_drainage)

Lymphatic massage is entirely different from sensual massage.  It is unfortunate that people started to use the term and associate it with another thing.

Is lymphatic massage worth it?  Lymphatic massage in CDO usually cost around 350 Pesos.  The massage is concentrated around your behind and groin area.  This usually ends up with extra service.

Now if your intention is extra service and not the lymphatic massage, then why spend 350 Pesos when you can just get a regular massage at 200 Pesos and still get extra service?  You save 150 Pesos in the process.

According to one therapist, lymphatic massage is just a scam being peddled by spas to get more money out of you.

So the next time you go to a spa and the receptionist offers you lymphatic massage, just refuse.  ES ra gihapon ang ending.  Wala pa gyud ka na masahe ug tarong.

My Spa Review
The spa is quite new.  It looks good and has a peppermint smell.  The spa rate is a bit expensive compared to spas located in Divisoria.

They offer a loyalty card in which after 10 massage sessions you get a free 1 hour massage.

The therapist assigned to me was M.  He is moreno, looks young (probably because he is slim and small), around 5'4 inches tall.  Not my type.  After the customary foot wash I was lead to the 2nd floor and in the cubicle.

The bed foam was on the floor.  It was firm and thick enough.  It has a small pillow, two or three towels, a shorts and even a shirt.  I was impressed.  The curtain partitions were thick enough but does not go totally down to the floor.  There was also a clock in the room.

The therapist started on my leg.  Within a few seconds I knew this would be a relatively good massage and I was not disappointed.  He gave me a hard massage which was a bit painful but satisfying after a few seconds.

The massage I felt was a bit short or lacking.  When I was already lying down face up, the therapist did not massage my legs again.  It was okay but I thought it should have been done.

After the massage, I was asked if I wanted water or tea.  Wow...I have not heard that for the longest time.  It was a satisfying massage even without ES.  No hot towel was given.  I guess because every end of the massage stroke, the therapist would wipe the oil off with a dry towel.

CONCLUSION
This is the spa set up that I used to know.  They ask for your name and sign up on the customer sheet.  The place looks and smells nice, they offer water or tea after the massage, the bed, towels and sheets are good.  I have nothing to complain.  In fact I wish all spas in CDO are like this.

With or without ES, this spa is worth the visit.  Even though it is expensive (by Divisoria standards) but I guess you get your moneys worth based on the facilities and service.

Websites offering massage services

I have mentioned this before, I do not recommend websites that offer massage services because if you have complaints where do you go to file a complaint?  Do they have a physical office?  Kanang opisina nga naay tao ug receptionist?  

I am pretty sure these massage websites do not even have a business permit or worst of all pay taxes.  That is why I promote spas in CDO because they are legitimate.  They have business permits and pay taxes to government.  Kung mangayo kag resibo, naa silay ika hatag.

Lets talk about therapists.  How sure are you that therapists from these massage websites undergo physical checkup every week at the City Health Office?  Do they even have SSS or Philhealth as required by law?  Wait...they do not have business permits therefore they do not go to the weekly hygiene check at the City Health Office and offer government benefits.  Whereas in spas, the therapists gets weekly checkups and benefits (though I heard some spas are not giving SSS and even Philhealth which is illegal).

And the photographs.  If you are a website offering massage services, you should at least have photographs of your therapist.  If you do not have photographs of your therapist in your website then you are hiding something.  At least in spas you can do special requests and get the therapist that you want.  Uban naka aquarium style pa.

In conclusion, if you are still reading this ug wala ka nag nosebleed, I will remain vocal about the spa industry in CDO and against massage websites.  No threat can silence me.

Beware of CDO Massage fake website

Someone called my attention that there is another website that is pretending to be CDO Massage.  Their original website name was CDO Freelance Massage.  Gi gamit ang pangalan nga CDO Massage para mu adto mga tao didto sa ilang website.

Since the name CDO Massage is popular online they took the opportunity to use my blog name so they can profit from it.  Binastos gyud.

My fear is that the some people would go to that fake website and transact with them.  Their website offer massages.  Mao siguro to sa una nga naay nag ingon nga tag-iya daw kog spa.  I do not own a spa.

I hope this would clarify everything and warn people of their deceitful ways.

My Spa Review
The area used to be the Amarela Spa.  Amarela has transferred just in front of Sentro Restaurant.  

The interior decor is good.  Looks like a real spa.  Of course everything is still clean and maintained because it is new.

Their price range is a bit on the higher end.  Around 220 Pesos and above.  They have a promo like 100 in the morning and 150 in the afternoon.  To my surprise they have a massage from 1 to 3 hours?  3 hours would cost you around 600 or 700 Pesos?  I forgot the exact details but if you want a longer massage session this is for you.

Since I was new to the spa I let the receptionist decide who will handle me.

The male therapist assigned to me was around 5'5.  Average height by Philippine standards.  His face was not my type but he looked lean in his uniform (I think it was black uniform).  Tanned skin, not that dark.

As I was lead in my cubicle I immediately observed that the curtain partitions were too thin.  Aside from that, the area was a bit bright.  I can see the silhouette of the bed in the next cubicle.  Makita gyud.  The bed foam was okay but still a bit thin.

There was no shorts provided by the spa so I had to wear my underwear.  When the massage started, it was not really that good nor that bad but in general it was still below average.

Within the first 2 minutes of the massage the male therapist was already trying to put his hands inside my groin area.  Alam na!

As the massage progressed he asked me if he could take off my underwear.  I said sure, why not.  Asa pa man diay ta padulong ani hahahaha.

With my underwear gone, it was like a signal for him to dive in my crotch.  He spread one of my legs outward and massaged my inner thigh.  He was basically trying to tease me and get me hard.  It basically worked.  Then he spread my other leg and did the same.

I am not sure if all or most of their male therapists are lean and fit but it is worth exploring.

The only downside is their curtain partition.  It is too thin and if you are placed in a well lit area, makita ka gyud sa sulod.  Probably in the darker areas of the spa it would not be a problem.

Spa client died due to High Blood Pressure

I finally got a confirmation that a client in Althea Spa died.  Based on reports the deceased had high blood pressure and was taking medication.  Just a month before the incident he was admitted to the ICU for high blood pressure.  His high blood pressure was triggered by the massage.

This is a warning to all spa goers.  If you have high blood pressure, you are taking medications or have any ailment, consult your doctor before getting a massage.

Some therapists do ask their clients if they have ailments or high blood pressure but again this really depends on the client.  If the client lies about these things what can the therapist do?  Igo ra baya na sila mo tuman sa client.

I hope this serves as a warning to everyone not only to spa goers but spa establishments itself.  Even if the client is young, the spa has to ask questions regarding their health.  Mas maayo gani nga ang receptionist mangutana na gyud sa client bago mag assign ug therapist.  They have to screen their clients first and warn them of the dangers of getting a massage with high blood pressure.

Mr. R of Elysium

I take facts as it is.  I have a criteria to follow for my review.  Kung pangit ang spa, PANGIT gyud!  Kung walay ayo ang masahista, WALA gyud!  If you do not meet my criteria, you fail.

As for Mr. R?  He clearly failed.  Good bye Mr. R and my former friend hehehe

I was assigned to a therapist named J.D.  I was asked to sit as usual and wait for my therapist.  When he showed up I was like...damn!  He was tall, well built, but the face was just okay.  Not really my type.  However if you add everything up, he has that appeal.

After the customary foot wash, I was told to proceed to my cubicle.

I took note of the time and did not remove my underwear.  Again I wanted to see how far this guy would go.

The massage was a bit rough.  No finesse.  Later on I asked the receptionist and he told me he was still new to the job.  No wonder.

While he was giving me a massage, he was breathing heavily.  He was like out of breath.  Later did I also know he was a smoker.  He went outside for a smoke after the massage.

To cut the story short.  The entire massage including the hot towel rub was around 50 to 55 minutes.  No ES was offered.

Some of you might say "sayang".  That I should have insisted of getting ES but again, if no offer was made I would not insist.

Conclusion

Would I get JD again?  Probably but a few months from now when he has more experience in massage.  Kulang pa ug experience.

My Spa Review

While I was walking around City Central School I spotted this new spa.

So I went in and inquired about their services.  Their Swedish massage costs around 250 Pesos while their Shiatsu is 280 Pesos.

Looking around the interior the place looked familiar.  Where have I seen this unfortunate decor?  They tried to imitate the "Forest" ambiance with plastic leaves and hanging vines.

There was no foot bath.  I was immediately asked to go to my cubicle in the 2nd floor.  The 2nd floor door was just a rough plywood door like they just placed there for the sake of it.  When I opened the door, there was more of the unfortunate decor.  More plastic leaves and hanging vines attached to a thin wire.  The floor was covered with plastic linoleum.

I was told to enter the cubicle and then I realized that the place actually looked like Mahumpay!  It was tragic.  Murag boarding house nga gi himo lang basta maka kwarta lang ang tag iya.

The cubicle curtain partitions were hung by a thin wire.  Just wires!  And the bed foam?  It was so thin that I could feel the hard plywood pressing on my entire body.  They could not even afford to patch up the other side of the wall.  You could see the wall support from the other side.

To add insult to injury, the massage was bad.  I did not like it.  I think it was also the bed that was really making the massage uncomfortable.

I wanted the massage to end so I could get out of the place.

Conclusion

They were charging people 250 Pesos and the spa looks like a cheap boarding house.  It was not worth my time and money.

A spa is supposed to be a place to relax.  That includes visual stimulation and relaxation.  How can you relax when all you can see are roughly patched up wood partitions and decor that were placed just for the sake of it.  Basta basta nalang gi himo para lang tawagon nga spa.

Holy Week Spa Schedule

On April 13 (Thursday) most spas will still be open.  Call in advance just to be sure.

However on April 14 (Friday) most if not all will be closed.  Ayaw na sad mo palabi sa inyong gibati hehehehe

It has been a long time I have not visited Touch of Heaven located in Divisoria.

So I decided to just visit the spa again and check if there are changes to their services.

Their basic Shiatsu/Swedish massage is now 199 Pesos.  I hate this type of "pakulo".  Ga lisod lisod ka lang ug sinsilyo.  I got a male therapist.  Von was his name.

Upon entering the cubicle I was disappointed of the bed.  It was extremely flat and thin.  Curtains partitions were thick enough for privacy.

I was told to just wear my underwear, so I did.  Before the massage even started, the other female therapists who obviously had nothing to do kept on talking and giggling a loud.  It was just annoying.
The massage started and it was okay.  Nothing really extra ordinary.  No ES was offered.  The therapist ended the massage and when I checked my timer, it was just 40 minutes. Bullshit!  Wala na gani ES, unya undertime pa gyud?

It was ridiculous.  I left the spa and gave nothing to the therapist.  He only deserved the commission from the massage and not a tip.

This is an additional information that was brought to my attention.  Touch of Heaven has recently changed their name to Convalescent Spa.  According to my friend they had tax issues.  They were actually about to close but it seems they were able to negotiate with the BIR.

Fai Thai Corrales Update

Originally my intention was to visit Hiroshi Spa located along Corrales Street.  The spa offers both male and female therapist.

As soon as I entered Hiroshi, I felt like I was in a small storage space.  Then when I saw the hallway leading to the cubicles, I freaked out.  Hadlok tanawon.  It has a low ceiling clearance, very dark, it was scary.  I decided to back out and leave the place.  Now I have no where to go and I wanted a massage.  

So I decided to just walk towards the bars along Corrales Street.  As I reached near the Xentro Hotel, I remembered Fai Thai.  I guess my desperation (don't judge me hehehe) drove me towards Fai Thai.

I knew what I was getting into.  Fai Thai is known for extra services and lousy massages.

Their basic Thai Massage with hot stone is 195 Pesos.  The male therapist assigned to me was Mr. J.  He was average looking.  Not really my type.  His height was around 5'5 (165 cm) and probably had light tan skin.  Not sure because it was dark inside.  He was lean and fit.

I was lead to the cubicle and stripped down to my underwear.  When I laid down, the mattress was flat.  It needed changing. It was old, crusty and flat.

The massage started well as usual but I felt he was a bit rough and brisk in his strokes.  No finesse.  He kept on asking me if the massage was okay.  The hot stones were actually nice.  I liked it.  It felt good on my back.

Then came time to massage my hands.  He placed my hand on his thigh and slowly moved it towards his crotch. Then I noticed his pants had holes.  It was ripped at the most convenient part of his crotch. Very typical of Fai Thai boys.  This happened to me before.  Nothing new.

Althea Revisted

Spa Review

I was with a straight friend and he decided to treat me to a massage.  Good!  Who does not want free stuff but then he decided to go to Althea.  Patay!  If you have read my last review on Althea the curtain partitions were quite thin.  I told my friend about it and he replied "Wala man sad tay daotan buhaton sa sulod.  Mag pa extra ka diay?"  Ughhh...it was frustrating but what can I do, siya man magbayad.

When I got in the cubicle I immediately checked the curtain partitions.  Makita gyud...I do not really have any choice.  So I waited for my therapist whose name I forgot.  I think his name was like "Ting" or something.

Ting was a lean guy, average height, no really my type.  The massage started and to my surprise it was fairly good.  The pressure was enough, hands glided well.  

He asked me if it was my first time in Althea.  I told him it was basically my 2nd time but it was a long time ago.  He then mentioned that he was also new to the spa and originally came from Finest Thai.  When he said Finest Thai, I was like...OMG! ES sure na! Hahahaha  Then I made the connection.  Jeremy also came from Finest Thai.

As usual when it came time to massage my hands, Ting tried to place it near his crotch.  Okay...but then someone went in the next cubicle.  I could see the shadow or silhouette of the guy clearly.  Then the therapist came in, maklaro gihapon.  I felt there was no privacy in the cubicle.

The massage continued but nothing happened, ES was not offered.  Even if it was offered I would not dare to do it with that thin curtain partition.  No!

Conclusion

If you are planing for a descent massage, Althea is fine but for ES?  And the place is packed with people?  I don't think so.
